One Layer WOW - Butterfly

Quite a few people have asked me to share how I made my card for the challenge 190 and I am very happy to share.  I hope I can make your life easier and convenient for crafting, teaching or demonstrating. I took my inspiration from a small note card I saw somewhere and I cannot track down the original and I don't know who made it, but it was so cute and an inspiration to me. I'm thrilled to pass it on to you. I have also done one in Pretty in Pink as well as Wisteria Wonder.

 

So now on to the tutorial

 

Materials

Card Stock - Whisper White

Ink - Wisteria Wonder, Crumb Cake

Stamps - 'All a Fltter', 'So Happy for You'

Tools - sponge, Stampin Write Marker;Wisteria Wonder, Blender Pen

 

I made a template from plastic and put removable glue on back so I could use it several times.  1/2" masking all around standard size card of 8.5 x 5.5" folded in half.

Then I stamped the background in Crumb Cake with a stamp similar to SU En Francais or you could use a wheel for the background like Travel Journal.

In a circular motion sponge around the outer edges of the card.

Go all around as many times as needed to get the colour depth you want leaving the middle white or slightly covered with colour.

Stamp your image with black Stazon.

With your marker shade in the top and bottom rows of the wings and then take your blender pen and highlight the inner portion of the wings. I like the look and colour of the blender pen when I ink so the top and bottom parts of the wing, if I were to make more, would be done that way but shaded darker.  Here the marker makes it look bluish.Whatever you prefer I suppose.

Remove the mask and add your glue then glitter to body and parts of wings. This pic shows Glitter Ritz.

This pic shows Dazzling Diamonds coloured with a drop of Wisteria Wonder reinker. Just mix the 2 together really good, let dry and use like normal glitter. Can match glitter to any ink colour you have with your reinkers!

Add sentiment to card and sponge around for added effect if you like or keep edges clean.

Snip & Tuck

I think this technique is way cool and I give credit to Julie Davison and her blog is http://juliedavison.blogspot.ca/    Julie uses 12"x 3" and folds in half for a 6x3 card when done. Here are my takes on her styles and have made a standard A2 card and cut one to fit an elongated envelope I have as well.  That card measures 3 3/8 x 6 1/4 I have tons of envelopes of different sizes and I really like the idea of custom making a card for the envelope, so, that's what I did in the case of the Happy Graduation card.

More of a masculine take on this type of card...

 

After stamping the world, I took a blending pen and pulled it over the ink and coloured the land portion of the world then I took my aqua painter and some Marina Mist watered down and coloured in the water areas on the map

 

 

I just love demonstrating new ideas!!! We did these at last nights class.

There were only 3 of us last night and with that, I always seem to have time on my hands to make myself some cards. So, while I was sitting and talking, this idea popped into my head and I had to go with it.  What ya think?

Converting 3" notes to full cards

Good Day All
Recently I received a 3 x 3 little card in my delivery and it was so cute I just had to make some of my own.  It also got me thinking about how I could turn it into a full size card with very little effort. Below is a full card I made by adding the so saffron and wisteria wonder and ribbon to the 3 x 3 white card

 

I liked it so much we did them in our first class for the fall as a refresher card.  Refresher meaning scoring, cutting, stamping, adding bows and embellishments. Here's a couple more we did. We also did 3x3" cards to go along with them.

Also in the refresher course we used embossing folders and the scoring tool.  We two step stamped and did our most favorite thing of all... adding GLITTER!!!  We can never get enough glitter. Trying to think outside the box for Christmas, I came up with a card CASED on myself (see earlier post with xmas trees shared at regionals) based on Very Vanilla, Calypso Coral, Gumball Green and Early Espresso for the one card and Cherry Cobbler for the other two. All popped up on dimensionals.

The glitter does not show up clearly here but looks absolutely fab in real life.

 

 

 Angel was embossed with Cherry Cobbler and highlighted with glitter on bottom of skirt, top of wings and cuffs.  Hope you enjoyed!!!

 

 

One Layer WOW

Hi everyone!

 

Well it's that time of year year. Yep! Back to the scheduling and 'playing cards'. Just LOVE IT!

and classes start Thursday night...can't wait.

 

I was checking out the LNS and saw a challenge for one layer cards.  I had made this card for a friend a few months ago and thought it fit right in with the challenge so I thought I would share it with you.  The WOW factor? The glitter of course. Everything's better with glitter on it! Hope you like.

Well, what can I say. Again, it's been too long since I last posted on my blog.  It's been a very hot summer and challenging to say the least. I've been very busy doing very little which is supposed to be good for me, but it's time to get back into the swing of things & get ready for some classes starting in the fall.
I just finished an eventful Saturday at the Stampin Up Regionals at the Hamilton Convention Centre and have come home with some great ideas and exciting things to show everyone.  It was a lot of fun!Below is my card swap I made...24 of them, which is not an awful lot considering there are about 500 women at Regionals and 95% swap.

Below are some get well and sympathy cards I made for several individuals last month.

 

The card below was designed specifically for my daughters friend who works on a farm milking cows.  She was in a terrible accident at the beginning of the summer and will be layed up til at least October. She shattered her foot and is unable to walk at the moment.

I have been away for a bit.  Regrouping from a heart attack mid-May. Actually a blood-clot in my right artery jammed up at a spot where there was some plaque build up.  Emergency stent surgery and home for the recovery after 36 hours.
